What would you do if you were given a second chance? Founder of Drug Free Youth Association Malaysia (DFYA), Khairuddin was a drug user once upon a time. He decided it was time for action when he witnessed school children as young as twelve succumbing to drugs.
WHAT ?
This is a 12-month program to spread the awareness on the dangers of drug abuse and its negative elements among school children from high-risk area.
WHY ?
Khairuddin knows the hardship and torment one goes through to turn a new leaf. A former user, he has noticed how these days kids who experiment with drugs are getting younger and younger. He found DFYA to create alertness among youngsters on drugs and its consequence.
HOW ?
Khairuddin aims to make students think differently when it comes to drugs, and give them the ability to weigh the consequences on their own. An underground musician who has travelled abroad for music, Khairuddin takes on the role of a big brother to approach the matter and keep the talks cool. DFYA will continue to hold talks and motivation sessions in schools and mini-concerts to amplify the fact that you don’t need drugs to be a rockstar!
