A Global Financial City
The Kuala Lumpur International Financial District (KLIFD) is a key enabler to strengthen the position of Kuala Lumpur as the global financial city of choice.
This crucial component of the Greater Kuala Lumpur initiative will help transform Kuala Lumpur into an international hub for banking and finance as well as related professional services.
KLIFD will leverage on Malaysia’s leadership in global Islamic finance to cement her position in the world of international finance.
KLIFD will drive Malaysia towards a high-income economy.
For the future it represents, KLIFD is identified by the Government of Malaysia as an Early Entry Point in its comprehensive Economic Transformation Programme to more than double per capita income by 2020.
1MDB is the Master Developer for KLIFD and a twin project – Bandar Malaysia, which is the urban redevelopment to transform the old Sungai Besi airport into a sustainable liveable city and a haven for knowledge and arts.
Location
Strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur's "spread out" financial district, KLIFD will bring together world-class names to operate closely in a physical location.
KLIFD lies at the city’s southern tip. It sits on 75 acres in between Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Sultan Ismail and the Putrajaya elevated highway.
This new icon for the financial world will expand the city’s business centre and tourist belt, from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), the Pavilion Retail Centre to Bintang Walk.
It will be easily accessible to motorists, commuters and pedestrians. KLIFD is only a short walk to many of these places, including the city’s premier Central Business District.
