Music has been a big part of our Malaysian culture, but music in schools still has room for expansions. Choral music - a group of singers performing together - has been growing in popularity lately. The Young Choral Academy aims at providing a channel for young singers to learn, interact and perform. San San intends to tap into this love for music among Malaysian youth to encourage unity through this choral music.
WHAT ?
Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod 2012 is a choral music symposium and competition targeting young Malaysian singers and participation from various neighbouring countries. This programme promotes various Malaysian musical interest and cultural affluence to groups of children, youth, educators and musicians.
WHY ?
Saw San San, the Music Director of the Young Choral Academy sees this as an opportunity to expose aspiring youngsters to the many different choral trends and development from across the globe. She believes this project not only unites music lovers through singing, it also serves as a channel for a holistic growth among the youth.
HOW ?
A series of choral symposium will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Penang, Johor and Sarawak. San San will move a team of volunteers to promote the event and gather participants of 300 students. Renowned panel juries and educators from USA, Croatia, Indonesia, China, Philippines and more will be invited to judge and conduct the choral workshops.
