“We at 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Berhad) are truly excited about the prospect of watching our Malaysia XI team face–off English Premier League champion Manchester City in Bukit Jalil National Stadium on this coming Monday, 30 July 2012 at 9.30 pm.

This will be a great opportunity for the legion of local football fans to watch our national team face Manchester City which will be graced by the likes of Vincent Kompany, Carlos Tevez, Kun Aguero and Yaya Toure. If you look through the Manchester City team, every single player would be a player that any team in the world would love to have in their team.   This special occasion will give our young team another chance to replicate their inspiring performance from last Tuesday night when they nearly toppled the mighty Arsenal.  Local football fans should not miss this opportunity to go the Bukit Jalil Stadium to lend their support to our valiant local team.

Manchester City is a team that has always been a community club in Manchester and has a long history of doing CSR for their community.  1MDB via Yayasan 1MDB is also committed to CSR.  This is a very interesting collaboration.  Towards this end, we are pleased to inform that since 20 July 2012, 50,000 special charity tickets have been on sale at an affordable discounted price of RM10 each to ensure that local fans can be part of the action in Bukit Jalil.   We have been getting calls and emails on where to get the tickets and if the tickets are still available.  Hence we have decided to do this statement for the public.  The tickets are still available at TicketPro outlets in Klang Valley. Sixty percent of the proceeds from this sale will be donated to Yayasan 1MDB, all of which will then be given to charitable organisations. What could be more apt in this month of Ramadan.  We will announce the beneficiaries at a later date, once we know the total gate receipts. 

We hope the Malaysia XI vs Manchester City match will provide a world-class entertainment to be enjoyed by Malaysians of all walks of life(no matter which English Premier League team they support) and also to bring cheer to the charities that will benefit from this special occasion.  It would be very interesting indeed if our team can beat the English Premier League Champions. They nearly beat Arsenal FC the other day.”
