Leaderonomics is a social enterprise with a vision to grow people into leaders and build affectionate communities. It focuses on helping people build their leadership capabilities and grow into community leaders that is passionate in making a difference in the world. The DIODE Youth Leadership Camp, targeting youths from the ages 13 – 16, is initiated to fill in the absence of a systematic direction for creating leaders among youth.
WHAT ?
Two installations of the DIODE leadership camp will be held for youths from marginalized backgrounds. 140 youths, including orang asli children and underprivileged youths from youth centers and shelters will be invited to undergo the six-days five-nights journey of self-discovery and leadership awareness.
WHY ?
Through Project DIODE, Leaderonomics Youth is able to focus dedicated time to the campers to help develop their leadership skills. Taken out of their otherwise limited environment for the duration of the camp, the trainers have ample opportunities to impact and inspire the children to move out of their comfort zones. The youths will be challenged to make full use of their skills and talents, opening up possibilities that otherwise would remain undiscovered.
HOW ?
Through interactive and experiential learning sessions, campers will gain the first hand know how on soft skills like public speaking, communication skills, human relationships, project management and so on. On top of that, campers will be required to complete a group project and present their findings at the end of the camp to a panel of invited industry leaders. This will teach them the value of working in teams, project management, conflict resolution and presentation skills.
