Reaching out to the youth of Malaysia is possible despite being away. Projek Kalsom 17 is a perfect example of that. A group of Malaysian undergraduates from the United Kingdom has been running this project during their summer holidays in Malaysia since 1994. Projek Kalsom 17 elevates the potentials of secondary school students with excellent exam scores. The project focuses on strengthening soft skills among 200 aspiring 16-year olds.
WHAT ?
This project by Kelab Kalsom Untuk Belia, is run by 16 Malaysian students from the United Kingdom and aims to empower underprivileged highflyers through various interactive programmes.
WHY ?
Students from the less fortunate group do not have the opportunity to expand and fully optimize their potentials. This project will not only build character and personality among the student participants, but also provide an opportunity for them to improve their capabilities as aspiring future leaders through character building acitivities.
HOW ?
This project will benefit the selected Form Four students from the state of Malacca. 60 student volunteers from both foreign and local universities have been selected as facilitators for the 5-day programme. This motivational programme will consist of talks and activities based on "The 5 Principles of Excellence of Projek Kalsom", which are Academic Excellence, English Language Proficiency, Careers & Scholarship, Religious & Moral Values, and Physical Fitness.
